As the sound "washes over" participants in a group setting,  their brainwaves gradually transition from the alert beta state to the more tranquil alpha state, and eventually to the meditative theta state. This transition triggers the activation of the parasympathetic nervous system, countering the stress and anxiety associated with the sympathetic nervous system's "fight or flight" response. As our physiological responses harmonize with the rhythm of the sound, we experience a deep sense of serenity and well-being.
